WF Takes 24/7 Service To Its Limits | 31 Mar 2008
WF Electrical’s unique 24/7 service was tested to its extremes on the Sunday of Christmas Eve 2006 when a David Lloyd sports centre in Derby was in danger of flooding as a result of an unexpected breakdown. Such a flood would have had a devastating effect on the business over a peak holiday period.
The beleaguered FM, Cofatech Heatsave, responsible for the sports complex desperately needed some fuse holders and breakers as well as mains cable for the emergency breakdown. But being a Sunday, every electrical distributor, including WF, was closed for the holidays, so the FM’s engineer on site, Aidy Snaith, thought his chances of getting the vital products was well nigh impossible.
When the call came to WF’s Barrie Williams, the FM national account manager, he immediately realised the seriousness of the situation. Despite the fact that it was Christmas Eve, he contacted Dave Staton who works for WF’s Nottingham branch. He was doing his last minute shopping in a mall in the town centre but nevertheless volunteered to open the branch and look for the products. The real service, however, was typified by the fact that Staton having gone to town by bus to avoid parking problems, walked three miles to the Nottingham branch!
Having located the required items, he cut the various lengths of cable and Aidy Snaith in turn collected the goods. The conclusion was that the breakdown was repaired by three o’clock that afternoon. Although the value of the order was minimal the benefits of WF’s positive response were incalculable.
